Rose Quartz & Serenity ● Pantone Color of the Year 2016

It's that time of the year when Pantone announces their color of the year. And for the first time in their history they chose a duo of shades instead of just one, which has shocked a lot of people.

"In many parts of the world we are experiencing a gender blur as it relates to fashion, which has in turn impacted color trends throughout all other areas of design. This more unilateral approach to color is coinciding with societal movements toward gender equality and fluidity... The prevalent combination of Rose Quartz and Serenity also challenges traditional perceptions of color association." explains Pantone on their official website.

MARSALA ● Pantone Color of the Year

So recently Pantone announced their color of year. So color of 2015 is Marsala. Pantone themselves on their website described Marsala as "Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness. This hearty, yet stylish tone is universally appealing and translates easily to fashion, beauty, industrial design, home furnishings and interiors." And I could not agree more! It's a beautiful tone that is extremely universal. For the past four years I was disappointed with their color choices. I felt like colors or at least the exact tones of 2014(Radiant orchid), 2013(emerald), 2012(Tangerine tango) and 2011(Honeysuckle) were quite random and far from most popular ones in fashion and beauty.
As I mentioned before I'm definitely pleased with their choice this year. Marsala without a doubt is "The it" color now, especially after 90's fashion came back and Kylie Jenner made everyone lust over red-brown tones again. I can proudly admit I'm one of them and I plan on buying at least 10 red-brown lipsticks this year! Also I'm thrilled to see if fast fashion industry will incorporate this shade into their AW 15 collections.
