Rose Quartz & Serenity ● Pantone Color of the Year 2016

It's that time of the year when Pantone announces their color of the year. And for the first time in their history they chose a duo of shades instead of just one, which has shocked a lot of people.

"In many parts of the world we are experiencing a gender blur as it relates to fashion, which has in turn impacted color trends throughout all other areas of design. This more unilateral approach to color is coinciding with societal movements toward gender equality and fluidity... The prevalent combination of Rose Quartz and Serenity also challenges traditional perceptions of color association." explains Pantone on their official website.

Personally I think it's a beautiful gesture and it's pretty obvious that these shades where inspired by the transgender flag. I don't see why so many people are straight up hating and saying that these two colors belong in the nursery or calling this decision a cop-out.

Rose Quartz is a beautiful warm shade of light pink and Serenity is an absolute gorgeous periwinkle light blue. The idea behind these two isn't about them being separate. It's about how they mix and work together. When it comes to hair dyeing, this combination has been popular for a while now. Not only these colors are beautiful to look at, they are calming as well. As Pantone's team of experts said "Joined together, Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace."

You can find so many beautiful meanings behind this year's theme. Men and Women joining together, gender fluidity and equality, peacefulness. Yet so many people choose to see baby colors and get angry about it. At the end of the day it's just colors and trends, they'll pass and soon other shades will take their place. I definitely plan to embrace these two stunning shades upcoming spring and summer, but for now I'm enjoying the dark and vampy season.
